Artificial Intelligence is not a single technology, but rather an umbrella term which covers a number of technologies that allow computers to mimic human thinking by making assumptions, learning, reasoning, problem solving and making predictions with a high degree of autonomy. AI technologies include machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.

In this webinar Janel will give a basic explanation of AI with examples, and show how like most things in life, AI is neither good or bad: it can be helpful ...and it can be harmful. As Janel will explain, It is important to treat Ai with respect, with a true desire to understand it, and see it as a teacher who can provide endless opportunities for meaningful growth.  She will give examples of how AI is being used today, and how quickly this is evolving.

How can AI be helpful?

AI technologies change what is possible for human beings. It can be used to democratize access to resources and advance science and technology in ways that benefit humanity and all life. Janel will give examples of how AI is being helpful now and what is possible.

How can AI be harmful?

If misused it can deepen the inequity and imbalance we see in the world today, including access to resources, health, and opportunity. Janel will share examples of how AI could be used to cause harm.

How can we take responsibility for the impact of AI?

AI isn't something to avoid out of fear. AI technologies are here and they are quickly evolving along with their impact on human society. Janel will share some recommendations for how to be responsible in how we use AI and for how AI impacts our lives.
